What if your used plastic bottle could become part of something much bigger? Through the right machine it can! SM Cares, through the SM Green Movement, has partnered with recycling technology company Sparklo to deploy SM Green Recycling Machines to 30 SM Supermalls across the country. Through the nationwide deployment across SM’s network of most-loved malls, responsible waste disposal becomes easier, more engaging, and more rewarding for mallgoers.

The reverse vending machines empower customers to deposit eligible plastic bottles in exchange for rewards. The partnership turns simple mall, customer visits into pathways to help support the SM Green Movement through responsible waste management and segregation to divert waste away from landfills and maximize resources through recycling. SM Green Recycling Machines are now available in key locations across Metro Manila, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Baguio, Pangasinan, La Union, Rizal, and Cebu.

Each plastic bottle placed in the machines represents more than properly managed waste. It is a small but meaningful choice that helps keep recyclable materials in circulation, supports responsible consumption, and brings communities closer to an SM Waste-Free Future. The partnership forms part of the SM Cares Environmental Sustainability Program under its Waste Management Pillar. It complements SM’s existing circular economy and waste management efforts, including the Trash to Cash Program and the Plastic Waste Collection Program.

Through initiatives like these, SM Cares seeks to make sustainable living easier to understand and practice. Rather than asking people to make sweeping changes all at once, the SM Green Recycling Machines show how everyday actions—repeated by families, students, young people, and communities—can collectively create lasting environmental impact.

With Sparklo’s technology and the reach of SM Supermalls, recycling becomes more than a responsibility. It becomes a convenient and rewarding habit that Filipinos can carry into their daily lives—one plastic bottle and one better choice at a time.

From thousands of hopefuls across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, thirty of the country’s brightest young dreamers took center stage at the SM Little Stars 2026 Grand Finals. Captivating the audience at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, the finalists showcased exceptional talent and charm in a nationwide celebration of Filipino youth. More than a talent search, the annual competition highlights SM Supermalls’ commitment to discovering and nurturing limitless potential from every corner of the Philippines as these children embrace the biggest stage of their young lives.

The Grand Finals marked the culmination of six weeks of auditions held across 68 of your most-loved SM Supermalls nationwide. More than 41,000 children aged 4 to 7 showcased their talents in singing, dancing, and other skills, with only 30 exceptional finalists earning coveted spots in the country’s biggest nationwide kiddie talent competition. While every finalist inspired the audience with their passion and determination, two young dreamers ultimately earned this year's highest honors.

Gratiela Thresse M. Urmeneta of SM City Manila was crowned this year’s Grand Shining Star, while Amiah Kaea Yzobel Quimzon of SM City Butuan earned the title of Grand Dazzling Star. Their remarkable performances and irresistible charm won over both the audience and the judges, bringing the competition to an unforgettable conclusion.

Urmenete wowed the audience with her energetic dance performance, while Quimzon serenaded the judges and crowd with her heartfelt rendition of the classic Disney song “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

For the mothers of the newly crowned stars, seeing their children take home the competition's highest honors was a proud and emotional moment after weeks of preparation and support.

Beyond the competition itself, the Grand Finals became a celebration for families, friends, and supporters who filled the venue with cheers, applause, and heartfelt encouragement.

“Watching these young dreamers perform reminds us that every big journey begins with one brave step. SM Little Stars has always been more than a competition; it is a place where children discover confidence, families create lifelong memories, and dreams begin to take shape. We are proud to continue providing that stage for Filipino children year after year," said Hanna Carinna T. Sy, SM Supermalls Senior Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Leasing.

This year’s finalists were evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges composed of singer, actress, and host Karylle Yuzon, award-winning filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone, OPM hitmaker and ABS-CBN Music Assistant Vice President Jonathan Manalo, "Gala To The Max" choreographer Angel Datanagan, and SM Little Stars 2016 Grand Winner Marcus Cabais. Their expertise and insights helped recognize the young performers who best embodied the talent, confidence, and stage presence that define SM Little Stars.

As this year's top winners, Urmeneta and Quimzon each received a prize package worth celebrating, including ₱100,000 in cash and SM Gift Certificates, a National University college scholarship, a brand-new car, an all-expense-paid trip to Hong Kong, and many more exciting rewards.

Aside from crowning the two grand winners, SM Little Stars 2026 also recognized three runners-up, the finalists who placed sixth to tenth, and recipients of the special awards: People’s Choice Award, Little Style Stars, Little Sparkling Stars, and Little Pop Star.

Beyond the titles and prizes, every finalist took home something even more meaningful—the courage to dream bigger, cherished memories with their families, and the confidence to take the next step in their journey. These unforgettable moments are a testament to the enduring legacy of SM Little Stars, which continues to inspire young talents and create meaningful experiences for 17 years and beyond.

SM Cares, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), brought The Blackout Zone to the CHED Central Office Auditorium at the Higher Education Development Center Building in Diliman, Quezon City from July 21 to 22, 2026.

Developed through SM’s Mall for All drive on inclusivity, the immersive exhibit invited students, educators, and members of the academic community to experience life without sight in a controlled and safe environment. Participants were guided through everyday activities designed to encourage them to look beyond limitations and recognize the abilities, independence, and resilience of people with visual impairments.

“Sometimes, understanding begins when we are willing to step outside what is familiar,” said Richard V. Caluyo, Senior Assistant Vice President for SM Cares. “By bringing The Blackout Zone closer to schools and the academic community, we hope to inspire young people and educators to help build learning environments where every person feels seen, respected, and included.”

For a few moments, participants stepped into complete darkness. Without relying on sight, they navigated familiar tasks through touch, sound, scent, and the reassuring guidance of others.

What emerged was something lasting: a deeper appreciation of how persons with visual impairments experience and move through the world each day.

Previously mounted in SM malls, The Blackout Zone has featured sensory and everyday activities such as tying a shoe, preparing coffee and sandwiches, identifying candy and scents, and experiencing Movies for the Blind. Its CHED installation marked a meaningful step beyond the mall setting, allowing the initiative to reach people who help shape classrooms, institutions, and future generations.

Through its partnership with CHED, SM Cares hopes to deepen conversations around accessibility and encourage higher education institutions to strengthen inclusive practices both inside and outside the classroom.

“Our united goal with SM for The Blackout Zone is for the program to serve as a catalyst for meaningful action,” said CHED Commissioner Michelle A. Ong. “Empathy allows us to dismantle the barriers that hamper inclusion and education of Filipinos with vision impairments. Through this shared effort, we hope to further guide policies tightly woven with real-life experiences to serve this sector better.

The experience also served as a reminder that inclusion is not built through awareness alone. It grows through empathy translated into thoughtful actions—from offering clear assistance and respecting independence to creating spaces where people of all abilities can participate fully.

The Blackout Zone forms part of SM Cares’ continuing programs for persons with disabilities, which promote accessibility, sensitivity, inclusive employment, and meaningful participation in community life.

Because while participants entered the exhibit without sight, many left seeing inclusion more clearly.

Despite ongoing cost-of-living challenges and inflationary pressures, the Philippines emerges as one of the regional leaders in salary optimism.

I got the opportunity to  attend SEEK's Salary Pulse Press Conference to check the latest 2026 Salary Pulse Report released by Jobstreet by SEEK, the Philippines ranks second in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region for pay satisfaction, with 80% of Filipino workers feeling fairly or well paid; just behind Indonesia’s 81%.

However, the report reveals a critical primary insight for today's employment landscape: getting fairly paid no longer equals workplace contentment, as only 59% report being happy with their salary, highlighting a disconnect between what they consider fair and what they’d like to earn. In parallel, 45% of respondents say that their earnings still fall below their actual cost-of-living needs.

The Salary Pulse Report was conducted in February 2026, gathering over a thousand employed respondents in the Philippines. Jobstreet by SEEK, through this report, seeks to focus on attitudes and experiences around pay, including how fairly people feel paid, how happy they are with their salary, and how they approach pay conversations.

On salary fairness and work happiness The 2026 Salary Pulse Report uncovers a notable disconnect between perceived market fairness and actual salary happiness. Among employees who view their pay as "fair (about right)," only 44% are actually satisfied with that level of remuneration, leaving 56% unsatisfied.

This indicates that workers evaluate salary not merely against industry benchmarks, but against their workload, how well they feel rewarded, and how it sustains their lifestyle. Employees’ expectations, as the report suggests, are likewise shaped by how strongly they believe their contribution is valued, and by how well their salary supports what matters to them outside of work.

Salary happiness has also been the driving motivation for Filipinos to stay in their jobs. When workers in the Philippines are happy with their pay, they're over 2.2x more likely to feel motivated and willing to put in extra effort at work. Conversely, unhappy workers are 2.9x more likely to actively look for a new job.

The Salary Pulse Report also finds that many workers in the Philippines are willing to make compromises, but highly value positive work culture. About 28% of employees stated they would consider relocating to another city or country for a 10% raise. Yet, the same workers are far less likely to sacrifice a positive workplace environment in exchange for a toxic culture for a 10% pay increase.

“The gap between fair pay and salary satisfaction shows that compensation is only one part of the employee experience. Employers need to look beyond salary benchmarks and pair competitive pay with meaningful recognition, clear career pathways, and open conversations about growth to build engaged, future-ready teams,” said Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK in the Philippines.

Pay satisfaction across generations and industries

Generational priorities further shape compensation sentiment across the country. Millennials feel the most financially squeezed, with around half (54%) who are happy with their pay stating their salary falls below their standard of living needs, resulting in a lower salary happiness score (54%) compared to Gen Z (61%) and Gen X (60%).

While millennials are hesitant to compromise on the workplace environment, the report reveals they are the most open to pursuing side hustles to bridge their financial gap. In contrast, Gen Z workers (83%) are open to making trade-offs such as accepting a lower job title or less meaningful work for a 10% raise.

Across industries, Technology (54%) and Construction (50%) lead the market in workers who feel well paid, recording the highest overall salary happiness. Stronger wage growth drives this sentiment, with nearly half of workers in these sectors receiving raises in the last 12 months. Conversely, Industrial sector workers report the lowest pay satisfaction, with 58% noting their earnings fall below cost-of-living requirements.

The findings from the 2026 Salary Pulse Report present a strategic opportunity for Philippine business leaders and policymakers to modernize compensation models and performance management practices. By bridging the gap between pay fairness and meaningful reward, organizations can foster higher employee engagement, lower turnover risks, and build a resilient, future-ready workforce

Century Tuna Unveils Strong Line Up of 40 Inspiring Superbods

The Superbod Era has officially arrived—and it is fiercer than ever. Marking 20 legendary years at the forefront of health and fitness, Century Tuna Superbods stands as an iconic movement that champions wellness for all, serving as a powerful platform that celebrates healthy bodies along with the inspiring stories behind them.

Paving the way for the highly anticipated final leg of the competition, the #SuperbodEra launch event celebrates the Superbod finalists' continuous evolution–proving that true transformation extends far beyond physical conditioning to encompass personal growth, mental strength, and inspiring health advocacies.

Featuring the iconic Century Tuna Brand Ambassador and Superbod Anne Curtis, the Top 40 Superbod finalists stepped into the spotlight not just to display physical fitness, but to share their personal stories.

By opening up about their unique journeys, overcoming hurdles, and championing health advocacies, the contenders demonstrated how they use the Superbods stage to tell their stories and inspire everyday Filipinos to kickstart their own wellness journeys.

"Having been with Century Tuna for so many years, I've had a front-row seat to how this brand and this platform have grown," said Century Tuna Brand Ambassador Anne Curtis. "What makes Superbods so special is how it brings real human stories to the center stage. Seeing these finalists step up with heart and genuine passion for their health advocacies is truly inspiring for everyone.”

This year’s campaign looks past the surface to celebrate the rich, real-life backgrounds behind every fit body. This season highlights the rich variety of life experiences among the finalists—bringing together individuals from diverse professions, life stages, abilities, and personal journeys who each carry a unique story of strength.

Century Tuna Superbods amplifies health and wellness across the nation by spotlighting real people with real purpose; behind every fit physique is a compelling background and a purpose-driven campaign—from inclusive physical training to accessible nutrition.

Since stepping into the spotlight during the callback, the finalists have undergone an intensive series of activities, workshops, and wellness challenges. These prepared the finalists to embrace the Superbod role in its entirety—not as mere competitors, but as living proof of what is possible. Century Tuna acts as the connecting bridge, amplifying their remarkable real-life stories to inspire, motivate, and move Filipinos across the country to pursue their own goals.

During the launch, the Superbod finalists took center stage to unpack the true heart of their campaign: their personal health and wellness advocacies. Ranging from accessible nutrition and mental wellness to intense training, these passion projects turn physical fitness into a purpose, proving that while physical fitness gets them on stage, purpose is what keeps them there. By using their hearts and voices to uplift others toward better health, they show that anyone, at any stage of life, can kickstart their own Superbod Era

"Now in its 20th year, Century Tuna Superbods has become a platform for every body where purpose takes center stage," said Mr. Carlo Endaya, Vice President, General Manager, and Group Business Head of Century Pacific Food Inc. "We created this space to show that anyone, at any stage of life, can step into their own Superbod Era. Physical fitness gets you on stage, but our finalists are proving that true transformation is about leading by example and empowering every Filipino to take charge of their wellness journey."

On its 20th anniversary, the Century Tuna Superbod legacy expands beyond the runway and into the real world. This milestone reinforces a fitness movement that continues to empower every Filipino to confidently unleash their "Superbod Era" in a supportive, no-judgment environment. Rather than shifting gears, this evolution brings to the forefront what Century Tuna has long championed: that being a Superbod is an accessible, daily lifestyle meant for everyone.

We just joined this "Superbod Era"!

This vision recently ignited a massive advocacy with the launch of the first Superbod Era Strava Challenge, rallying over 58,000 Filipinos of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. The overwhelming response to this digital challenge showed that Filipinos are more than ready to take part in the community Century Tuna has long been working to build—a welcoming online space where everyone, regardless of where they are on their fitness journey, can connect, support each other, and celebrate their progress together.

To kick off this initiative, Century Tuna held its first Superbod Life community run in partnership with Megaworld, demonstrating how a supportive community, both online and offline, can empower individuals at every stage of their Superbod path. Joining the run were Century Tuna Brand Ambassador Atasha Muhlach and Super Bowl Ambassador Emilio Daez, inviting Filipinos everywhere to be a part of this collective space and unleash their best fitness eras.

It is a safe space where members can learn and be inspired by peers going on the same journey and from experts who can guide them toward their health goals.
